It is an alarming issue that has being raised by Researchers at California's Monterey Bay Aquarium.
- Microplastics found in the ocean
- Numerous fish are ingesting the microplastic
- It can move from their stomach to their muscles
- Researchers are concerned about the effects
- Individual observations has been carried out
- Fish are consuming more plastic over time
- Some oceans are more polluted
Summary:
Global pollution in general is a concerning issue. Studies indicate that one in four species is ingesting plastic debris that moves from it's stomach to the muscles, which could likely end up in one of our meals.
Personal reflection:
- A Global awareness program is needed to address the dangers and the potential hazards of dumping plastics bags, containers etc. in the sea
- There is a need for an urgent effective global response to oceans pollution.
- Global financial support ,is needed to improve the scientific techniques for detecting microplasitcs and for researchers to find the potential effects of plastic consumption on the human body
- Fish imports from the most polluted sources shouldn't be carried out.
Well done! Thanks for blogging...
