Greta Thunberg and George Monbiot on the climate crisis

Our Climate is suffering

•  Mass extinction. Our climate is breaking down.
• Numbers of species are going to extinct daily.
• Climate crisis can be fixed.
• Stop fossil fuel funding.
• Increase funding for natural climate solutions to tackle the breakdown.
• Protect Tropical forests, the cheapest natural climate solution.
• Restore, help nature to regenerate.

Summary:

We are facing a global climate crisis. Ecosystems are impacted by Fossil fuel funding causing a mass extinction.  Protecting our Tropical forests will help nature to regenerate and help ecosystems to bounce back. 

Personal reflection:

• An educational program should be implemented to raise awareness of our climate crisis
• More voices are needed to support the impact of ongoing funding and burning of fossil fuel
• Alternative  method in generating power like renewable energy should be supported and funded like Nuclear, Solar, Wind.
• There should be taxes and penalties  in place  for countries that use more fossil fuels than the rest of the world such as : China, The United States and India.
• We can be part of helping the planet by protecting our trees, and plant more trees, switch to solar power.

Hundreds of fish species including many that human eat are consuming plastics.

It is an alarming issue that has being raised by Researchers at California's Monterey Bay Aquarium.

• Microplastics found in the ocean
• Numerous fish are ingesting the microplastic
• It can move from their stomach to their muscles
• Researchers are concerned about the effects
• Individual observations has been carried out
• Fish are consuming more plastic over time 
• Some oceans  are more polluted 

Summary:

Global pollution in general is a concerning issue. Studies indicate that one in four species is ingesting plastic debris that moves from it's stomach to the muscles, which could likely end up in one of our meals. 

Personal reflection:

1. A Global awareness program is needed to address the dangers and the potential hazards of dumping plastics bags, containers etc. in the sea
2. There is a need for an urgent effective global response to oceans pollution.
3. Global financial support ,is needed to improve the scientific techniques for detecting microplasitcs and for researchers to find the potential effects of plastic consumption on the human body 
4. Fish imports from the most polluted sources shouldn't be carried out.
